This stone building is one of the largest in Gustavia, and its history is somewhat unclear.
According to city maps drawn by Samuel Fahlberg, some believe it served as a theater and entertainment venue, while others think it was a hotel, a political conference center, or simply a shop during the Swedish era. This building was known as the “Steinmetz House,” where rooms could be rented out by the residents. As for the origin of the name “Wall House,” some believe it refers to the stone walls, which were the only parts of the building to remain intact over the years.
Today, the ground floor houses an exhibition hall, and the city library is located on the upper floor.
